Dreams of Fire and Ice
As I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
For in that sleep of death may come
All from which I wish to run
Dreams of fire and dreams of ice
People running like fearful mice
Void of heart where cold does bloom
Locked up shadows in empty rooms
Withered trees form a garden path
Angry waters lash out in wrath
See me burning at the stake
A home found where the earth does quake
Open wounds that will not heal
Strange men come your jewels to steal
Drowning in a crowded room
Life within your mother’s womb
A blind ghost stares from a rocking chair
Deafening horns from a megaphone blare
Falling off a mountain crack
Void of color – odd dreams in black
Wild dogs chase you down a street
Slipping and falling on icy sleet
A women appears your heart to stab
Adding salt to a broken scab
Island storms where boats are tossed
Hall of mirrors where I am lost
A Chinese man faces a military tank
Montgomery’s inspiration I must thank
Hamlet’s soliloquy comes back to mind
Slings and arrows of fortune’s kind
And if I die before I wake
I pray the Lord my soul to take
