Lately, I wake up and wonder…
What will the world be like today?
Who will ISIS behead now?
How many people will die of Ebola?
Why is Russia in Ukraine?
Will conflict between Israel and Palestine
Ever end in peace?
So many questions…
Some will be answered tomorrow.
Some will never be answered.
Was there ever a time
When the world knew peace?
Or has hate, strife, and violence
Always been a driving force
Of Mice and Men?
If history repeats itself,
And men are supposed to learn
From their mistakes,
Then why do the same horrendous
Errors keep being repeated?
Kings have risen, Dictators have fallen.
And yet the woes of the world
Stay amid our sad reality called life.
Women are raped, Children are orphaned,
Men are shot by firing squad.
An apparently innocent black boy is dead.
Is this what is known as justice?
Did Lady Justice turn a blind eye?
Or did a policeman forget his vow
To protect and serve?
So many questions…
Some will be answered tomorrow.
Some will never be answered.
Some will remain in our collective memory
For many years to come, perhaps even more.
Years ago, when the skies of Baghdad
Were alight bright with rockets…
Did we ever think that
The New World Order
Could ever be so inhumane?
